Home- part one, chapter one.The smoke was an aggressive screen, raging from the untamed fire. I could hear Elizabeth frantically calling me, yet I stood placidly in the street, watching our home being devoured by the barbarous fire. Suddenly we were at the train station, my thoughts, nothing but a smoky haze. None of us spoke, silence had slithered upon us. For hours, that seemed like days we were on the train.I remember climbing numbly into an emerald car. Finally we arrived at an ivory house. The surrounding air freshly smelled of pine. It was night. The stars glittered like diamonds lit by white fire. The four of us were led to our rooms, mine in between William, and Elizabeths.The walls were a horrible sunshine yellow, the furniture bright pink, on the corner of the sunflower bedspread were three dolls. The first, a baby doll, dressed in green. The second, plastic, clothed in corduroy, a toddler. Made of porcelain, was the last doll. Draped in ebony velvet, this doll was my favor
